Medicaid information
Using ICWP to Cover In-Home Care and Adult Day Health Services
What is ICWP?
The Independent Care Waiver Program helps eligible Georgia Medicaid members with severe physical disabilities or traumatic brain injuries live safely at home or in the community. Instead of relying on hospital or nursing home care, ICWP provides support services that promote independence, dignity, and quality of life.
How ICWP Works in Georgia
ICWP is administered through the Georgia Department of Community Health as a Home- and Community-Based Waiver.
Eligible applicants must meet Medicaid criteria, be medically stable, and be able to live safely in a home or community setting. Adults ages 21 to 64 may qualify if they meet the program’s requirements.
Services That Maybe Available
ICWP may cover personal support, adult day services, emergency response systems, skilled nursing, respite care, counseling, case management, specialized equipment, and home or vehicle modifications. These services are designed to help members live more independently and with greater peace of mind.
